Firstly, a design is drawn on the paper which is going to be carved on the Sheesham wooden block, These designs can be inspired by Sanganeri prints, Mughal prints, motifs, etc. After the design drawing, the design is traced and carved on the wooden blocks by hand. The block craving is done separately for individual colour.
The following are the tools and raw materials required for the making of Wooden Block:
Raw materials
Wood (Teak, Sisham, Sagwan):- Blocks are made by these woods.
Hand tools
Pencils & Scale:- It is used to sketch the design on wood.
Carving tools (Colom):- It is used for carving & engraving on wooden block & carving should be deep up-to 2-3 cm.
Hammer (Thapi):- It is also used for carving on a wooden block.
Auger (Barma Kamani):- It is used for making holes in the wooden block because a hole should be there for the exit of air while printing.
Machine tools
Cutter:- This machine is used for cutting the wood.

Angle Grinder:- Angle grinder is used for sanding on a wooden block.

Printing Table:- It is used for spreading cloth evenly for printing.
Wooden Blocks:- Different patterns are engraved on the wood surface for printing.
Wooden Tray with a Bamboo Lattice:- It is used for spreading the colours uniformly.
Chalk:- It is used to mark the points on the cloth surface for smooth printing.
Scale:- It helps in identifying the areas to be printed.
Brushes:- It is used to clean the surface of the wooden blocks for better printing.
Tray Trolley:- It is used for easy working on the printing table.
Woolen Cloth:- It is used to be laid on the wooden tray.
Vegetable/ Natural Dyes:- These dyes are specially extracted from vegetables, fruits and nature.
